Client Business Area
The client is a Regional Transplant Community. This is basically a Non-Profit Organization and working for patient who needs transplant surgery. They recover organs and tissues by preserving every donation option, excelling in recovery and placement, and providing care for donors and their families.
Case Details
The NPO was looking for a Portal to help their community. They need website specially designed to managing external users like Hospitals, Donors etc. as well as staff members of the community. This Community wanted to promote their activities, announcement, and advertising contents through website.
There are number of department and number of hospitals available within organization. So for each department and hospitals, it has been design separate site. This kind of concept is easily maintainable by SharePoint Farm. For each department client wanted to manage staff member thought the site. And for each hospitals and committee client wanted to manage external users. So website is also publishing for external users.
Following are the main objectives that NPO wanted to achieve through the innovative ideas:
- Extent and Design Form Based Authentication site.
- Enable FBA (Form Based Authentication) for Hospital, committee (OTAC) and OPO sites (department).
- SharePoint Timer Job: check for accounts to expire after a certain amount of time and the user as well as notified about this. That way they will have to ask us for reactivation
- Staff Directory Web part: This is a custom web part, which provides user’s profile information imported from Active Directory (AD), the users from AD must register with this portal site. So by this way Steadman can manage user easily.

Challenges

Achievement
- We’ve achieved nice look & feel in portal site as well as FBA site.
- Also achieved user management structure throughout multiple departments in organization.
- Manger organization staff member and Active Directory (AD) users by custom web part.
Advantages
- Admin can easily handle/manage staff members from central location for multiple departments within single organization. All this functionality is achieved by custom web part.
- User has been notified by mail about his membership. So they can go for renewal membership.
- External users also can access portal site by sing in into FBA site. Through FBA site only administrator can achieve this functionality.
